FG Will Bring Back Yoruba Nation Agitator, Sunday Igboho, after his prosecution in the Benin Republic – AGF
Abubakar Malami, Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, opined on Monday that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government will extradite Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho from the Benin Republic.
The Minister made this claim while speaking during an interview on Channels TV on Monday.
The Department of State Services had declared Igboho wanted for allegedly stockpiling weapons in his home, which he denied.
Igboho was arrested in Cotonou in June, 2021 by Benin Republic’s security forces while he was trying to flee to Germany.
Igboho had since been remanded in a prison in the Benin Republic for over six months where he is said to be facing trial for immigration-related offences, amongst others.
Malami while speaking on Igboho’s ordeal on Monday said he is been tried based on account of breaching laws in the Benin Republic.
“We’ll allow the law of a nation that was indeed breached takes its natural cause and then perhaps indeed thereafter bring him back home after the conclusion of the trial for the purpose of facing the Nigerian law that was accordingly breached.
“The position of things is that we are not interfering in aborting the existing prosecution of the foreign land.” he said.
