BUK final year student slumps, dies in hostel
Bayero University Kano (BUK) has confirmed the death of Mallam Babangida Ahmed, a final-year student of the Department of Library and Information Science of Bayero University Kano (BUK), who died while preparing for morning prayers on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Mallam Lamara Garba, on 28th January 2022 the deceased, who appeared to be in good health, collapsed while preparing for morning prayers.
According to him, “late Ahmed collapsed in his hostel while preparing to go to the mosque for early morning prayer,”.
He stated that the late Ahmed, a resident of Bauchi State’s Misau Local Government Area, was brought in dead (BID) to the university clinic.
The statement adds that the university management had contacted his parents about the incident, adding that his remains would be taken to his hometown for burial according to Islamic rites.
“The late Babangida exited the room around 4:30 a.m., where he suddenly slumped and was not breathing with no sign of life, even before rushing to the university clinic on campus,” according to the statement.
He said prior to his death, the deceased had been visiting the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) over a certain undisclosed ailment.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and friends on behalf of the university administration, and prayed to Allah to grant him Jannatul Firdaus,
